3WW (CXXVII) entries

Image of a pigeon distorted by being seen through a cylinder of glass and water.Dear Gentle Reader,

I really like 3WWs.

They let us play Uri Geller and bend nouns.

Or, play Albert Einstein and bend ideas.

I have been busy this week, so I just jumped over to 3WW... a couple of days late.

This week the words are avenge, genuine, and ramble.

First, though, kudos to Thom for coming up with such interesting words this week, and every week.

I think ramble is a great word.

My Oxford Shorter (Two Volume) Dictionary gives, for one of the three base meanings of ramble, a probable 1620 etymology stemming from the Middle Dutch word rammelen (of cats, dogs, etc.).

Rammelen. To be excited by sexual desire and wander about, (to) frequent.

What a delightful word; it certainly conjures up images and connotations to stick to rambling...

Oh, and for the third haiku, as you will also recall, a ramble is also a thin bed of shale, lying above a coal-seam, which falls down (hopefully safely) as the coal is taken out, and then must be separated from the coal (as shale has no economic value to miners in a colliery).

Tschuess,
Chris

ISN'T EVERYTHING ABOUT SEX? (The advice you never received as a school-leaver...)

Ramble through life,
genuine adolescent;
avenge hormone hopes.

IN MEMORY OF THE WILD WEST
WHEN LIFE WAS SIMPLER AND THE TRUTH SEEMED EASIER TO ASCERTAIN
(a.k.a. WHEN MEN WERE MEN AND COWS WERE SCARED)

Avenge genuine
brands! (Buy no fakes!) Ramble to
stores; buy more! (Poor cows...)

POLITICAL PLACARD for Black-eyed Susan, who likes political poetry.
(a.k.a. WRITTEN BY A GHOST? OR GHOST-WRITTEN?)

Unsafe ramble yields
thunderous, genuine death.
Avenge mine life--strike!

A TOPICAL, POLITICAL PIECE ABOUT FRAUDULENT PRACTICES, PUBLIC HEALTH, AND SUGGESTED PUNISHMENT (GO here TO UNDERSTAND.)

Avenge the real eggs
(Only genuine will do!);
(sc)ramble fraudsters now!

Finally, a naisaiku... (with a three line title...)

...avenge perceived slights.
Ramble through therapy, cause
genuine distress.
THIS BUSINESS OF PAIN...
THERAPISTS SUFFER (ALSO)
THIS BUSINESS OF PAIN...
genuine distress.
Ramble through therapy, cause
...avenge perceived slights.

Dearest Heidelweiss,

It's still there, isn't it?

Comment away! (But you managed to comment on two posts in one go, so I am happy enough!)

Tschuess,
Chris

Love this post, especially the bit about sex (dare I say? perish the thought!)
And a three line titled NaisaiKu - a bit like a BOLD HAIKU sandwiched between a brace (of haiku).
Love the 'avenge the real eggs' too!

Great stuff, all the way around. And remember, you're never late for a 3WW - it's a full, seven-day adventure.

What, I can't read the Venice post after leaving this comment?!

Your words are like a cabinet of strange ancient drugs - some quite potent.

I've missed seeing you around the spiral lately, Sribe.
Now, about those Venice knockers.....Aloha-

Hiya, thanks for posting this on the NaisaiKu Mister Linky thingy - your innovative creativity is always welcome...

I like the Cowboy Haiku, I thought you were going to say, 'buy more wranglers!'

I haven't seen you around for awhile; are you well? If not you'd better get your rest and return on your rounds. The natives are getting restless.
